The Eugene Masonic Cemetery Association is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with a Board of Directors, a Cemetery Administrator, a Site Manager, and a small grounds-keeping crew. The cemetery retains “Masonic” in its name as an important historic reference, but the EMCA is an independent, non-sectarian organization, and the cemetery is no longer officially affiliated with the Masons.
The EMCA was created in 1993 with the cooperation of Eugene Masonic Lodge No. 11 AF&AM and the City of Eugene to rescue and restore the cemetery, which had become derelict. Thoughtful planning, herculean group efforts and community support have transformed the historic cemetery into the urban treasure we have today.
