Hope Abbey Mausoleum Open House\u2013Sunday September 27, 1:00\u20144:00 pm<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Designed by Ellis Lawrence and dedicated in 1914, the mausoleum is unique and fascinating. Eugene Masonic Cemetery Association volunteers will welcome visitors and provide information about the magnificently restored Egyptian Revival-style mausoleum and the historic cemetery, established in 1859.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is no parking in the cemetery. Park on the street and walk up to Hope Abbey. The main cemetery entrance is on 25th and University st.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the cemetery<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This community treasure is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Remarkably, it is also an active, operating cemetery<\/a>. Established in 1859, Eugene\u2019s first chartered cemetery includes pioneers, such as city founder Eugene Skinner and artist Maude Kerns. The cemetery retains \u201cMasonic\u201d in its name, as an important historic reference, but is no longer officially affiliated with the Masonic Lodge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
