The pioneers who first established the cemetery had it formally platted in a grid with streets and alleys. Numerous family plots, measuring 20 x 20 feet, were purchased by pioneer subscribers for a mere 15 dollars.
Today, a limited number of in-ground burial spaces are still available. To protect the cemetery's woodland setting, the cost and type of burial for a family plot or an individual lot varies by location. Also, to maintain the historic integrity of the site new monuments must conform to the cemetery's policies for design standards.
A portion of the purchase price for any burial space is placed in an endowment fund for the perpetual care of the cemetery. The Scatter Garden and Hope Abbey Mausoleum provide other burial options.
